Set of Six Eames Wire Chairs with Black Bikinis
Super special, Early first edition Eames Wire Chairs on the highly coveted Eiffel Base with Black Bikinis (formally called the Eames DKR2 chairs). Six Total Chairs.
Designed by Charles Eames for Herman Miller in Venice, CA in 1951. The frames of four of the chairs have the “patent pending” marking signifying these are first generation wire chairs. They have been a hit for the last 70 years. A new production wire chair with Bikini cover would run $1500+ (per chair) from Herman Miller; or in other words, a set of six would cost you $10,000 after taxes and shipping is considered. And let’s not forget, new productions do not retain their value like a vintage piece does.
Bikinis are in excellent shape and are ready for the next 50 years. Frames and bases are in original vintage condition exhibiting a beautiful patina and subtle character markings. Refinishing totally unnecessary. Structurally solid.
