Eero Saarinen for Knoll Womb Chair and Ottoman *SOLD*
Fresh from the upholsters is this special early edition Knoll Womb Chair and Ottoman designed by Eero Saarinen.
This set has been given all new foam and is covered in eight yards of premium Holly Hunt Wool Tweed in Slate. The fabric has beautiful shades of light and medium gray and slate blue interwoven providing a great feeling and looking texture.
Unlike most other womb chairs that claim to be vintage, this one truly is. It still retains it's original Knoll Associates label which dates it pre-1967 (when Knoll changed it's name to Knoll International).
The upholstery was completely hand sewn as was originally intended when the chair was designed. (On current production Womb chairs by Knoll they have put unsightly welting around the perimeter of the frame to save costs and conceal the machined seam).
The chrome is in great shape with only minor surface patina expected with a vintage piece.
Also note, the flat hockey puck feet glides, authenticate this is a true vintage piece as more recent productions of this chair have tapered glides.
