Knud Nielsen Sideboard and Hutch
Up for grabs is our absolutely stunning TRUE DANISH sideboard with a removable, low-profile, hutch top piece. This piece was designed by Knud Nielsen for Losning Mobelfabrik in the 1960's. A much smaller and more simple credenza, by Nielsen is for sale online right now for $3,600 (see link at end of post).
There is so much to note with this teak sideboard, I hope the pictures do it justice.
Most importantly, the credenza is solid, sturdy, and a total statement piece. It's one of the longest sideboards you'll find at 80 inches. The thing I love most about it is the hutch top piece is not as tall and awkward as other pieces in this era. Sleek, minimalist design is what this credenza is all about.
Take note of the hand crafted design; The rounded edges, the angles of the trim, the joint work, and the jaw dropping legs. It's clear an insane amount of thought and time went in to constructing this fine piece of furniture.
The dramatic overhang on both sides makes this a conversation piece for your home.
The four center drawers are extra wide and will accommodate all you could want to store. The top drawer is felted as would be expected with any true mid century piece. The drawers slide easily and feature dovetail joints.
The cabinet drawers slide perfectly, with no sticking. The cabinet shelves are adjustable to three different heights, or you could pull them out and have a large storage cubby.
The glass on the hutch can be quickly removed if you don't prefer the "glassy" look of the top piece. The shelves in the hutch are also adjustable and removable, providing a ton of flexibility for storing your decor and books.
As with any truly mid century piece, there are minor markings, but as you'll note in the photos, this thing is in phenomenal condition and will not disappoint.
79" Long x 31" High (48" high with hutch on top) x 18" deep
