IB Kofod Larsen Lounge Chair for Selig
If you're looking at this posting, you know just how special an authentic this Larsen chair is. Feel free to browse online and you will see this chair usually for sale around $1,400 plus shipping fees.
Larsen designed this masterpiece for the Selig Manufacturing Company in the 1950s. One of the most iconic Danish designs. Sculptural, wide, geometric arms. Striking lines. An angled back. And NO visible screws like most cheap mid century chairs show. This chair really does have it all!
Check out the dramatic angle on the back spindles. A step above the cheap-o rounded spindles you see on non-designer mid century chairs.
The chair has brand new Danish Pirelli upholstery straps and metal clips to ensure many decades of future use.
The supple orange upholstery is original and in really good condition and hopefully you love them as much as I do! The covers were professionally cleaned and the foam is brand spanking new. The backside of the back cushion has some discoloration from where it has rested along the frame rails for the last few decades, but the front side is mint.
The chairs itself is in phenomenal structural condition with absolutely no creeks, wobbles, or rocking.
As to be expected with any 60 year old piece of furniture, there are minor age-appropriate markings, mostly at the feet of the legs. I have chose not to refinish this chair (as I have done with many other mid century chairs) as I feel doing so would do a disservice to the original finish and gorgeous patina. But obviously, the chair is solid wood and all imperfections could be sanded out no problem. Check out the pictures to get an idea of how awesome this chair is.
