Paul McCobb for Planner Group Hutch
Parting ways with our amazing Paul McCobb hutch that he designed for the Planner Group back in the 1950's. That's right, this is a true mid century piece, not some mass produced West Elm knock off.
A quick Google search will lead you to a vendor selling this exact same piece for $4,200.
The lower drawer fronts slide wonderfully and are covered in McCobb's signature grass cloth textile and features original hardware. The interior shelf in the lower section is adjustable to various heights.
Up top you have a large cubby section for books and other decor on the right, and three drawers on the left for hiding your knick knacks. The bottom drawer has the original label still in tact verifying this is an authentic McCobb piece.
Be sure to note the stunning angled tapered legs that keep this piece feeling light and airy, as though it's floating in your room.
Would work wonderfully as a hutch or credenza in your dining or living room. But coud also serve as a a dry bar, showing off all your fancy liquors.
As is the case with any true mid century piece, there are various cosmetic markings and spots on the hutch. This is known as the wood's "patina" (similar to how leather furniture ages wonderfully over the years). In my opinion it adds to the character of the piece, but if you were so inclined, you could absolutely refinish it and make it look glossy and new as it is made of solid wood and is very sturdy. That's right, NO veneer or formica to worry about with this piece when sanding or staining.
