Bertoia Bird Chair and Ottoman for Knoll
Harry Bertoia's 1950 experiment with bending metal rods into practical art produced a revered collection of seating, including this exquisite Bird chair.
Innovative, comfortable and strikingly handsome, the chair's delicate appearance belies its strength and durability. In Bertoia's own words, "If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them."
This chair and ottoman are in amazing vintage condition. The cover is fresh from my upholsterer's shop and features 1' high density foam to make this the most comfortable seat in your house.
The chair is surprisingly ergonomic and hugs you in just the right way. The rubber shock mounts are in excellent condition and allow the chair to rock back and forth when sitting in it.
