Edward Wormley for Dunbar 10ft x 10ft Wool and Duck Feather Sectional *SOLD*
Let us introduce you to your new favorite sofa.
This Dunbar sofa is from the 1960's and comes from a one-owner house. The original owner stated they paid $25,000 for this sofa when they purchased. Yes, you read that right and it will make a little more sense as you read on.
First let's start with a little bit about the company.
Dunbar had established a reputation for providing the ultimate in quality handcrafted products to America's most discriminating clientele as early as 1910. In 1931 they hired Edward Wormley, who had a passion for quality and an eye for detail. Wormley found a perfect partner for his talent in DUNBAR, and remained with the company as Design Director for over three decades. Dunbar sofas, especially those designed by Wormley, are amongst the most valuable of the mid century era and command a premium when they come up at auction.
This beautiful sofa is covered in the most cozy cream colored 100% wool upholstery. The texture is a very nubby/chunky tweed boucle. The fabric is in great shape and we would not recommend recovering this time capsule couch.
All cushions are duck-feather and extremely comfortable. We dare you to lay down on this thing and not fall asleep. Can you imagine how expensive it would be to have a sofa this size completely filled with duck down and then wrapped in the best mid century modern wool fabric on the market? You should expect nothing else from a high end piece such as this.
The walnut plinth base adds a nice warm tone to the sofa.
The longer sofa piece measures just shy of 10.25ft long x 36" Deep. The armless portion measures just over 7ft long. Placed side by side you would have a 17ft long sofa. Or in sectional form, it forms a 10ft x 10ft L shape.
As is the case with any vintage piece there will be signs of use to the upholstery and the plinth base. Please look over the pictures carefully as we took pictures from virtually all angles so you can see just how great this piece shows.
